Land-based Oil Rig access solutions

Designed for endurance in tough conditions, Sky Climber’s Tower Hoists are ideal for use on rigs, derricks, and tower structures in oilfield environments.  Crown and base-mount Tower Hoists are man-rated and safety tested to consistently transport inspectors or maintenance personnel along tower structures.

With a variety of safety features such as emergency descent controls, and upper limit switches, these hoists are a necessary component of any tower configuration. Plus, with weatherproof enclosures, shock and vibration test approvals, and service support, owners rest easily knowing these Tower Hoists will function reliably use after use.

Offshore Oil Rig solutions

From our team in Europe comes an example of Sky Climber suspended access solutions for offshore drilling platforms.  The Maersk Inspirer is the world’s largest and most advanced jack-up drilling rigs.  It is a one-of-a-kind ultra-harsh environment jack-up rig that has the capability to move into smaller oil fields during the harshest conditions, even in the North Sea between Denmark and Norway.

Sky Climber was selected by the surface treatment contractor to develop a suspended access system for stripping and painting to be carried out on the inner side of the vertical steel structure of the rig.

The special shape of the steel structure meant that triangular platforms were required to access the steel tubes. The platforms were fitted with a special control system that ensured that the platforms remained horizontal when going up and down, in order to move smoothly through the tight triangular steel structure.  The platforms were suspended from steel beams attached to the top of the steel structure.

A Sky Climber trainer was sent to site so that these new users of Sky Climber equipment could operate the suspended access system efficiently and safely.
